Meet Ry! A girl and her rescue dogs, living life a little differently. Here’s her story of life on the road with Franklin, Penelope, and Mo, and how Skout’s Honor fits right in.

"So Ry, tell us about you and your dogs."
Howdy! I’m Ry, and I’m the mama of three rescue pups: Franklin, 8, Penelope, 7, and Mo, 1 or, as we call them, "the girls".
Franklin, Penelope, and I have been living on the road together for almost five years now. This past winter down in Baja, we added Mo to our family. Which was the best decision we’ve ever made.

“They’ve taught me patience. To slow down. To stay present. To trust my instincts. To be happy where my feet are.”
"What’s it like living in a truck camper with three dogs?"
We live full-time in my truck camper, Tumbleweed. And as you can imagine, living in a tiny pop-up camper with three dogs is a very dirty life. Hence why we buy Skout’s Honor Stain and Odor Remover in bulk.
"What has each of them taught you?"
I truly believe we get the dogs we deserve. Franklin, my first baby, showed me what true, unconditional love was and to love hard. Penelope, my wild child, taught me to chase my dream of living on the road, to howl at the moon and just go for it. And MoMo, my goofy little heeler, who makes me belly laugh every single day.
"Where does the road usually take you?"
We spend our summers in Oregon and our winters in Baja, Mexico, and we escape to the Southwest any chance we get.
I wanted to create a life where the girls could thrive, and in return, they’ve given me my dream life.
We spend our days driving down long dirt roads searching for remote beaches in Mexico, hiking through the Arizona desert, mountain biking, going on dog walkies, balancing all of us on a paddle board or piled up together in a cuddle puddle.

“I believe a dog’s life is only as big as we make it, and I want to show the girls the world.”
"What are your tips for adventuring with dogs?"
Because I’m a firm believer in never leaving the pups behind, we’ve learned a few hacks along the way.
We start our hikes early, especially since we’re always chasing endless summer. We take plenty of long shade breaks. Penelope, my feral baby, wears a tracking collar. We always have an emergency kit on hand, just in case. And, of course, we never travel without our Skout’s Honor Flea + Tick products.
"Any other Skout’s Honor favorites on the road?"
I absolutely love their shampoo and conditioner. The Sunkissed Coconut scent is my favorite, it leaves the girls smelling like a tropical island, which, let’s be honest, is no small feat when you’re living in a tiny camper with three adventure dogs. After a day of dirt, sand, salt water, and whatever else they manage to find, giving them a good scrub and having them smell fresh and cuddly again is one of my favorite little luxuries on the road.

"What’s the most dog-friendly place you’ve found?"
After almost five years of traveling together, we’ve explored a lot of places, and Baja Sur, Mexico, has been one of the most dog-friendly places we’ve found. The girls are welcome pretty much everywhere. They can roam the beaches, and we all get to live a very happy life down there.
"What has life on the road taught you?"
I believe a dog’s life is only as big as we make it, and I want to show the girls the world. It’s become my life’s purpose, and it’s something I’m so deeply proud of. They are my biggest blessing, my best friends.
They’ve taught me patience. To slow down. To stay present. To trust my instincts. To be happy where my feet are. And to love so damn hard.
Franklin, Penelope, Mo, you three are my entire world, and I’ll follow you anywhere.
I love you.
Now, let’s load up the truck and hit the road!
